Minneapolis Public Schools

If you live in Minneapolis or are planning to relocate there, then you will need accurate information regarding Minneapolis public schools.  The Minneapolis public school system currently has over 38,000 students enrolled.  Minneapolis public schools have seven middle schools, fifty elementary schools, and seven high schools.  Alternative education is no stranger to the Minneapolis public school system either, with eight alternative schools, eight schools designed specifically for special education; eighteen contract alternative schools, and five charter schools.

Minneapolis public schools are as diverse as the families they serve.  Over ninety languages are spoken within the Minneapolis public school district.  Languages ranging from Cree (Native American) to Somali are spoken in Minneapolis homes, and the Minneapolis public schools are addressing this issue.  In fact, most of their school district’s mailings are printed in four languages.

One of the most impressive and innovative teaching programs offered by Minneapolis public schools is the “Arts for Academic Achievement” program.  This program is widely acclaimed and has been igniting the passion of student learning.  In a time where many school boards are ending music and arts programs, Minneapolis schools seem to have embraced the arts, and are being well rewarded for it through rejuvenated learners and climbing test scores.  Combining music and the fine arts, the heart of the program is based upon learning the arts and learning through the arts.

It seems that Minneapolis public schools have stumbled upon a great new method of learning that stands apart from the failing statistics and standards of other school systems.
