Myth Night Club

Maplewood Minnesota

One would never guess that Myth Night Club was built in what used to be a very large shoe store, ‘Just for Feet’. In the same way that a shoe store giving way to a dance floor feels clearly and utterly appropriate, the location of a nightclub in the suburbs feels initially somewhat less appropriate. However, in Maplewood, Minnesota, a suburb of Minneapolis and St. Paul, Myth Night Club was built, and as of September, 2005, opened. Fortunately for the minds behind Myth, the DJs and bands that perform there, and the patrons who celebrate inside, concerns that a suburban location would fail to draw a vibrant and exciting scene have proved unfounded. After three months in business, Myth Night Club is drawing a party mix from throughout the region, and is now on equal footing in terms of reputation and draw with the best of the clubs in downtown St. Paul and Minneapolis. Simply put, the location outside the downtown districts not only makes space for the generous club occupancy of 4,500, but also allows one to attend a club or concert on par with any downtown club without the added tedium of negotiating the downtown parking and traffic. In fact, at Myth Night Club, parking is free.

It seems every contingency of entertainment was calculated into the fiber of this place. If you want to dance, there’s the largest dance floor in the region. If you came for a concert there are mezzanine and balcony lounges from which to watch. Even the need for fresh air is obligingly offered with patio seating and music piped onto the roof. Myth prides itself on being a combination of a night club and a stage for entertainment from the national circuit. There are few night spots that could boast of having booked Queensryche, Billy Idol, and My Chemical Romance before the opening of the place. Even now, a cursory glance at mythnightclub.com reveals a calendar filled with dates. There’s a bold mix of artists from the genres of country, hip-hop, and emo - Jason Aldean, Ying Tang Twins, and Korn respectively. That is in addition to regular dance and DJ nights featuring both touring DJs and those from the Twin Cities and surrounding areas.

A curious element of any prominent night club are the many layers of exclusivity and retreat. In addition to the ample open seating, standing, and bar space, Myth provides lounges and suites to those groups and persons who need it. For roughly $35 per person, a party of four can escape to the bottle service, sofa seating, and superior view of a semi-private lounge. Or, more personalized service is available in the VIP lounge for those who value such luxury at $300. For those who love to be noticed without being noticed there are the aptly titled VIP suites. These are far more expensive, and include the three bottle minimum peak $1,000, although split between 25 people it may not seem like so much. Whether renting such a suite or not, there is something exciting about being able to overlook all the public while maintaining the right to privacy at the pull of a string.

Myths are years in the making, and Myth Night Club is no exception to the rule. To step inside its class décor is to be impressed, at the very least, with the apparent thought that went into Myth Night Club’s construction and design. From the enormous dance floor and kicking sound to the surrounding comfort of balconies and lounges, it is clear that none of the 36,000 square feet of this facility are squandered. Whether you visit to club, concert, lounge, or attend a private event, Myth Night Club always presents its face as nothing less than sexy, sophisticated, and chic.
